This is not a post about anything remotely political.
Rather, it's a post about organelles, and their ceaseless campaigning for office. Every fall we run organelle campaigns in AP Bio, and this year was no exception. Our campaign seasons are a bit on the short side (3-5 days), but I'll suggest that our results are as uplifting as anything that comes out of the American political process.
This year, students had to create their campaign posters electronically on Piktochart, which is usually used more for infographics, but it seems to have worked pretty well for the purpose. Once the posters were created, students could chose from a variety of other media through which to run different aspects of their campaign.
They could run a twitter account for their candidate, as long as they used the #OrganelleVote2014 tag, which makes it much easier for me to do this.
They could write an op. ed. on Medium:
Or they could make a campaign ad like the one at the top of this post.
All in all, I was super happy with the work that everyone did. And there's some part of me that really likes taking tools that were created for other purposes, and using them to do something thoroughly ridiculous.
