This is one that defies any rational understanding. Mental illness is a disease that can be as horrible as any other. In its way, it is like any other person with a terminal condition electing to stop treatment.

I suppose there is some small comfort to take from the thought that at least a terrible struggle is ended, and that peace is found.

But I will miss him, terribly.
