This week's bizarropolitical moment is the strange tale of Roland Burris. The erstwhile junior senator from Illinois is unable to participate in all things legislative, as he has been appointed "under a cloud" by a man soon to be leaving his post. As strange as all of this is, none of it is what qualifies Mr. Burris for the title of BPMOTW. What does, then? Why, it's the granite mausoleum/monument that Roland Burris has built to himself. The monument is where the good sir plans to be buried in the future and, among other things, lists all of his accomplishments chiseled into the granite outcroppings.
The Burris monument is the weirdest, most egotistical thing that I have ever seen a politician do/have/want. And that's saying something. Just knowing he has such a thing makes me completely unwilling to endorse the man for any elected office. It's just a weird fucking thing to do.
