I fully expect that the wrong message is about to be widely sent regarding Michael Phelps smoking pot. I can only imagine that he will be widely shamed for his illegal activity. So shocking that a 23-year-old male likes to blow a few tubes from time to time. And of course, marijuana is known for its performance (and lung capacity) enhancing capabilities. Watch now as everyone gets on their high horse. Threatening to ban him from competition for two years. Personally, I'll be taking a different lesson from this: apparently you can enjoy a bit of the reefer from time to time and still be the most accomplished Olympic swimmer of all time. Being that seems to be the case, maybe all of this silliness regarding marijuana use is a bit overdone.
Somehow, I don't imagine that will be the dominant message in future news cycles.
